Kindle Vella Closes Its Doors — What It Means for Sara Seelie

Amazon announced on October 28, 2024 that Kindle Vella, its serialized fiction platform, will officially shut down in February 2025. For Mind and Memory, this news hits close to home — our serialized novella 'Sara Seelie and the Secret Song' found its early audience through the platform. While the closure is bittersweet, it has prompted us to reimagine our entire novella strategy. We are pivoting toward a direct-to-reader model that gives us full creative and commercial control. The upcoming Mind and Memory Novellas App will become the new home for our serialized content, offering readers an ad-free, premium experience with exclusive chapters and early access. Sometimes a door closing is the push you need to build something better.
